Prime Minister Agrees to Community Hospital Meeting

During Prime Minister's Questions today, Brooks Newmark secured a commitment from the Prime Minister to meet with him regarding the future of Braintree's delayed Community Hospital project. During Prime Minister's Questions today, Braintree MP Brooks Newmark secured a commitment from the Prime Minister to meet with him regarding the future of Braintree's delayed Community Hospital project.

Brooks asked the Prime Minister whether he was aware of the length of time that Braintree residents had been waiting for a community hospital; before going on to suggest that the project had stalled and that the buck was being passed between the Primary Care Trust and the Strategic Health Authority.

He then pressed the Prime Minister for a meeting to discuss how to take the Community Hospital project forward.

After Prime Minister's Questions Brooks said "I am delighted that the Prime Minister has twice confirmed in the House of Commons that he is willing to meet with me to discuss this vital project. There has been far too much confusion surrounding the hospital and someone must take overall responsibility for pushing the project on.

I told the Prime Minister that those responsible for the decision had been passing the buck and it is quite clear that the buck stops with him. I hope that we will have a productive meeting and that I will be able to reassure my constituents that they will soon have the local healthcare services that they deserve.
