A120 progress update
Brooks Newmark comments on the latest on the plan to upgrade the A120 between Braintree and Marks Tey. Dr. Stephen Ladyman, Minister of State for Transport, has given a number of answers to Parliamentary Questions on the future of the plan to upgrade the A120 between Braintree and Marks Tey.
Brooks said, "Unfortunately the Minister's answers are, once again, non committal. Local people have been left in limbo, particularly those whose homes fall within the very large area of blight cast by the various proposed routes."
"We have heard time and again that the investigations and the proposed route announcement are 'nearing completion' but the announcement has now been pending for over 18 months since the end of the consultation."
"I am also very concerned by the slippage in the completion date that seems to have occurred. It is now abundantly clear that this necessary upgrade will not be ready for traffic until some years after the 2012 Olympic Games and this is a missed opportunity for our region."
