Brooks Appeals for Community Hospital

Brooks Newmark MP appealed for answers from the Government over the uncertainty surrounding Braintree's new Community Hospital. Brooks Newmark MP appealed for answers from the Government over the uncertainty surrounding Braintree's new Community Hospital.

During a debate on NHS reorganisation in the House of Commons he said, "For more than 10 years local people have been promised a new community hospital, which is still not forthcoming. Does my hon. Friend agree with many of my constituents that the Government are more obsessed with structures than actually delivering front-line services?"

Brooks has also asked the Secretary of State for Health a written Parliamentary question about the future of the hospital project, but has yet to receive an answer.

During a meeting yesterday with Terry Hanafin, Chief Executive of Essex Strategic Health Authority, Brooks also raised the subject of the new Hospital.

Brooks said, "I can understand that many local people are frustrated by the lack information about the Hospital. I had hoped that the Secretary of State for Health would have answered my queries over the future of the project before I was forced to raise the matter during a debate in the House of Commons."

"Our local community deserves the very best healthcare provision and I am determined that this project should not be delayed for one day longer than necessary. I will continue to press for a quick resolution to this important issue. Local people should not be left at the mercy of central government bureaucracy.
