Brooks Newmark is a businessman, philanthropist, politician and social reform campaigner. Brooks was the Member of Parliament for Braintree (2005-15). He served in the Coalition Government as Minister for Civil Society, with responsibility for charities, the voluntary sector and youth (2014) having previously served on the Treasury Select Committee (2012-14 and 2006-7) and as a Government Whip and Lord Commissioner HM Treasury (2010-12). In Opposition Brooks also served as a Whip (2007-10).

Brooks is an angel investor in a number of companies and start-ups including Addition Finance, Get it Rwanda, Native Finance and Nkoda Finance. He is also the Director and on the board of Brooks Newmark & Co Ltd, the Catholic Herald, Mace Magazine, Connaught Brown and Odhin.

A Partner in Education

Brooks is also passionate about philanthropy and is Co-Founder of A Partner in Education, a charity which works with Rwandan teachers to give children access to schooling and quality, inclusive education.

Homelessness in the UK

Brooks sits on the Government’s Rough Sleeper’s Advisory Panel, and in 2017 chaired a report on Homelessness in the UK with Crisis and the Centre for Social Justice.
